THE PROJECT: We created a fun and engaging learning environment for 20 students to learn the benefits of why and how a healthier diet significantly impacts their overall mental and physical health. Students participated in an interactive curriculum that educated them on healthy cooking, eating and budget friendly produce and recipe selections. The program also included a visit to the Paul Quinn College Organic Farm. With the assistance of Darciea Houston the organic gardening consultant, the students will plant their garden in the first quarter of 2019. Students will also be given seeds they can plant at home in pots or beds. This first six-week curriculum will be repeated for the Spring Semester in 2019. CURRICULUM - Interactive lectures - Cooking Demonstrations - Menu Planning and Meal Prep - Group and Individual Exercise demonstration and plans - Urban/ Community Gardening techniques
